North Sikkim Standard Trip

Itinerary:

Day 1: NJP / Siliguri / Bagdogra to Gangtok (Stay in hotel)
We will pick you from Bagdogra airport / NJP railway station / Siliguri, and drive towards Gangtok. The distance is roughly 125 km and is roughly a 5-hour drive. You will pass many beautiful places and historical landmarks like the 'Coronation Bridge' during the journey. When you reach Gangtok, you can check-in at your hotel. Rest for a while and then walk around the main town and indulge in some shopping or just enjoy the pleasant weather. Overnight stay in Gangtok hotel.

Day 2: Gangtok to Tsomgo Lake - Baba Mandir - Nathula Pass – Back to Gangtok (Stay in hotel)
After an early breakfast, you will be travelling to Tsomgo Lake which is an oval-shaped lake spanning 1 km long and 15 m deep located at an altitude of 3,753 m (12,313 ft) above sea level. You will also visit Baba Mandir, as per the tour package, which is dedicated to “Baba” Harbhajan Singh, a soldier of the Indian Army who died near Nathula Pass. If the weather allows and permits are available, travel to the Indo-China border of Nathula Pass. This area is heavily protected by the Army and border forces. The evening will be at leisure. You can request a romantic dinner at MG Marg or indulge in a luxurious spa treatment. You will spend the night at the hotel in Gangtok.

Day 3: Gangtok to Lachen (Stay in hotel)
Early morning after breakfast drive to the small pristine hamlet of Lachen from Gangtok which is approx 107 km / 4 h 30 min. It is located at an elevation of 2,750 metres. On the way visit Kabi Lungchok, Tashi viewpoint, Naga Falls, Seven Sister Waterfall and Singhik viewpoint. Check into your hotel at Lachen. The evening will be at leisure. Overnight stay at Lachen hotel.

Day 4: Lachen to Gurudongmar Lake to Lachung (Stay in hotel)
Early morning, get ready to visit Gurudongmar Lake, this high-altitude lake (at 17000 feet above sea level) is the most visited tourist spot in Sikkim. Next, you will pass through the Chopta Valley, as per the tour package, a tranquil viewpoint. Drive back to Lachen for lunch and continue to Lachung. Enjoy continental meals in our Lachung hotel. Over Night Stay at Lachung hotel.

Day 5: Lachung to Yumthang Valley to Mangan (Stay in homestay)
After early morning breakfast, you will be visiting the Yumthang valley which remains covered with snow in winters and you will also visit hot water springs en-route. You have a choice to drive further to Zero Point, a highly recommended destination that needs to be arranged locally by paying extra. Drive back to Lachung for lunch and proceed to Mangan. You’ll be staying in a homestay at Mangan, where you will experience the simplicity and the rich hospitality of your hosts and local inhabitants. Spend the evening interacting with your host’s family and enjoy a delicious home-cooked local cuisine.

Day 6: Mangan to NJP / Siliguri / Bagdogra
You will proceed towards Bagdogra / NJP / Siliguri according to your train / flight schedule. Your trip concludes here with us. Head back home with lots of pictures and awesome memories.

Dos & Don’ts

  • Most important thing to keep in mind is that never expect luxury accommodation during travelling in North Sikkim. You cannot expect luxury meals, facilities etc. there as it is remote destination and mountainous area
  • Carry good number of woollen garments, sweaters, gloves, and caps to protect you from the cold
  • Suggest not staying at high altitude area if you are travelling with children and elderly person as it will create headaches, dizziness and vomiting among the aged and children
  • Carry sunglasses, torch, power bank, first-aid box, and other necessary items with you
  • Carry Original and Photocopy of Id Proof like Voter ID Cards including passport size photograph for North Sikkim Permit. Need to carry Birth Certificate or ration card in mandatory for minor too
